Dealing with Your Teenaged Addict

Over the past few years, the number of teenagers using and abusing drugs has increased at an alarming rate. With the arrival of ‘club drugs’ on the scene, indulging just seems like another form of socializing with teens. Couple this with the fact that a frightening number of teens also have access to their parents’ prescription drug stash and legal drugs like cigarettes and alcohol, and you have a recipe for disaster. This is evident, considering the number teens being treated for drug addiction these days.

Addiction Treatment Centers - What to Look For
Page 2
Location - Many people find that entering rehab closer to home is
comforting.  The majority feel that the further away the better the
odds of success.  This is a decision that only you and your loved ones
can make, and it is unique to each addiction situation.  Take your
time and look for the right one for your own situation, and do not be
afraid to travel if it means getting well.

Cost - Another key to treatment is cost, and in the field of addiction
treatment centers they are all over the board.  What is interesting
here is that the best rehab programs are not always the most
expensive.  That said, you will generally get better treatment the
more money you spend.  Look around and compare what is offered for
what is charged.  The time you invest will pay off in the long run for
sure.

Reputation - Addiction treatment centers can certainly be good and
bad, and finding out which is very important.  Check for online
reviews, ask around the business and talk to others that have gone
through their programs. There are no better ways to discover the best
treatment centers than to talk to the people who went to them.  These
folks can give you a real feeling about what it is like to attend a
treatment center and how it worked for them.

Primary Focus - Most treatment centers offer many addiction treatments
while others will specialize in a specific type of addiction.  Find
one that specifically works on your own addiction and you will likely
get the best treatment.  It stands to reason that when a treatment
center specializes in one type of treatment, they likely do it very
well.

Mission Statement - Much can be discovered about addiction treatment
centers by looking at their mission statement.  This is the primary
ideal or goal of a business, and it can clearly bring you a good idea
of what they are all about.

The biggest key to finding a great addiction treatment center is to do
your homework.  Just because an addiction center says they are great,
you should not just take their word for it.  They charge plenty of
money
and you have every right to ask questions before you pay it.
Spend some time talking with them to see whether it is right for you
and your loved ones.
